Lot 157: ST-1250A {Unmarked} {Ohio Brass}  Color: Mottled Brown  Description: The consignor reported: "I unearthed an extremely rare ST-1250A suspension insulator, nicknamed the "Hog's Liver," in my front yard in Tukwila, WA. I corresponded with Elton Gish, Ed Sewall, Rick Soller, and Mid Norris about this piece, based on a January 1998 CJOW article describing this style. We concluded the following: 1) My example would make the 5th or 6th known to the hobby. Almost all have some damage. 2) This style is not in any of the O-B catalogs but likely dates to ca. 1910-1915. 3) Others were found at Stevens Pass, WA. 4) My example may have been used on the Puget Sound Electric Railway (about 50 miles away), which ran near my house 5) It is likely that none of these have ever been sold before on the collector market." There is a 2" by 2" shallow chip on the top and a 5" area of chipping/flaking on the outer rim on the bottom. A rare "must-have" insulator for the suspension collector!
