Steel Mounting Bracket; Adjustable clamping bracket!
View:  Main (Large)
Lot 119: Steel Mounting Bracket  Description: These brackets were recently recovered from an old steel mill. They were clamped to the rafters, and brackets were mounted in groups of three. All of these brackets were used with the pin being vertical. BILL while clamped to a horizontal steel beam as can be seen in lot 117. However, all of these brackets allow the pin to be rotated to any point between vertical and upside down. While the brackets are marked "PAT'D" we are unable to find the specific patent. One can imagine that the patent was related to this movable pin. This bracket has been cleaned in vinegar, which allowed the removal of the rust without shining up the metal from wire brushing it or using other techniques for removing rust. Thus, it is more like it would have been when it was new. A number of these brackets were recovered and all of them, except for this one, had a pin with steel threads. this one has a thick copper wire wrapped around the pin to create threads.  Note: This type of pin grips the insulator very firmly when it is screwed on. In many cases it CAN NOT be easily unscrewed. If you are putting your own insulator on this bracket, DO NOT SCREW IT DOWN TIGHTLY as you may not be able to remove it! An unusual bracket for your collection!
