Lot 108: CD 230 HEMINGRAY [090] Color: Dark Honey Amber w/ Quartz Sand Swirls Description: Silica (quartz) sand comprises over 50% of the ingredients in glass. In this case, the glass was not well-mixed and the sand accumulated on the outside of the glass. There are sand patches on the left and right wire groove and on the base and inner skirt and pinhole. CD 230's can be found with various amounts of sand in them, and this fits somewhere in the middle of the range. This characteristic is seen now and then, often in the darker Olive Amber glass, which is nowhere near as nice a color as this.
