Lot 69
Price Realized: $165
Lot 69: CD 136 B & O [060] Color: Light Green Description: The Hemingray collectors would probably turn this to the "PATENT DEC 19, 1871" side, however technically the front is "B & O". This combination of embossings indicates that Hemingray produced this insulator. [ UPDATE: Correction: The prevailing opinion is that the glass CD136 B&O pieces made by Brookfield and Hemingray were produced for the B&O Telegraph Company which was a B&O Railroad subsidiary and was in business from around 1879 until 1888. Thank you Chris Renaudo!] A 1/8" ding on the upper wire ridge, otherwise very near mint. A nice find for those who collect railroad-embossed insulators. Estimate: $125 - $150 Open: $1 Price Realized: $165 |
