Lot 5
Price Realized: $1,210
Lot 5: CD 110.6 NATIONAL INSULATOR CO. [020] Color: Blue Aqua Description: This rarest of the "National" styles is the "variant with a smaller upper skirt diameter, thus more taper on the skirt" as described in the Price Guide. This variant was primarily found in New Hampshire, where they were used on a fire alarm circuit. Others were later discovered in New Jersey along a long distance telephone line. They appear to have been used only on the ridge pin. This example was recently found in an antique store. This style often has damage on the corkscrew, and this one is in very good condition. 3/8" x 1/2" skirt flake, and above it a 1" bruise on the wire ridge, both in the rear, otherwise about very near mint. Overall, quite good condition for one of these. For two other "National" styles, see the CD 104 in lot 16 and the CD 110.5 "Baby Corkscrew" in lot 21. This example is a must-have for the CD or New England glass collector! Estimate: $800 - $1,000 Open: $1 Price Realized: $1,210 |
