Lot 195: G.E.CO. DC Feeder Cable Insulator Color: Dark Olive Green Composite w/ Metal Bracket Description: This insulator was likely used on a DC trolley system in New York. Rather than the more common tan or brick red composition base, this base is Dark Olive Green. The metal cap fits over the dome and has fingers which can be bent over to hold the cable securely. "G.E.CO." is embossed on the cable holder and "PATENTED / JUNE 5 94" is slug-embossed on the dome. Charles A. Lieb was granted the patent for a feed-wire insulator "...with a clip or grip for the wire..." that could easily be bent to secure the cable. A colorful and catchy style in great condition!
