Lot 170: CD 262 COLUMBIA [010] Color: Aqua Description: The insulator hobby has nicknamed this style "Baby Columbia" although in the trades it was called the "No 2 Columbia." It is significantly smaller than the regular-sized CD 263 "Columbia" and is also less common than its larger counterpart. 1/4" flake/ding on the ear, a little wear on the base, otherwise about very near mint. The "tie eyes" design was patented by Samuel Oakman on May 12, 1891 and makes for a unique style of insulator. Although the patent mentions "one or more eyes", the patent drawing shows the insulator with just a single "eye". This "baby" is much less common than the larger CD 263 style; they will look great together on a shelf! Estimate: $175 - $200 Open: $1 Price Realized: $231 |
