Lot 157
Price Realized: $1,210
Lot 157: CD 249 HEMINGRAY [005] Color: Aqua Description: Clean and shiny! Many of the "0 Provo" examples have etched or hazy glass, but this one is an exception! This insulator is also in great condition, with no chips on the petticoats or the upper ridges. There are no fractures or flakes in the saddle area. Several small flakes, no larger than 1/4", at the base of the skirt, about a 3/4" area of flaking on the inner skirt, overall in really nice condition, especially given the size of this insulator! This is one large and heavy piece of glass! The "0 Provos" were only used on two 33-mile 66KV lines in the Harrisburg/Pittsburgh area. In the late 1990's you could still see these insulators in use. The line crosses the PA Turnpike between exits 7 and 8, and at this point the crossarms are doubled up, with 12 insulators on each pole. We drove by this area and you could see the insulators glistening in the sun. Quite a sight! The "0 Provo" insulators have been slowly increasing in price as they become harder to find, especially in great condition! Estimate: $500 - $600 Open: $1 Price Realized: $1,210 |
