Lot 51: CD 134 C.E.L.CO. Color: Light Jade Aqua Milk EIN: [020] Description: A jade-like translucent effect can be seen throughout this insulator. The initials may have stood for "Cambridge Electric Light Company," a supplier of electrical equipment, or perhaps "Citizens Electric Light Company", also in the Massachusetts area. Joe Maurath, Jr., a specialist who has studied New England glass extensively, writes that all of the Pennycuick-style C.E.L.CO.'s are embossed on top of something else. All that can be seen of the hidden embossing is a small period between the "C." and the "E". Flat 1/2" chip on the base was caused by the flaking of an open bubble. This typical crude Pennycuick has some roughness at the base of the threads. This will certainly stand out next to items in your collection that have more clarity to their appearance! Estimate: $250 - $300 Open: $1 Price Realized: $688 |
