Lot 112: CD 168 HEMINGRAY Color: Opaque Blackglass EIN: [027] Description: This insulator is blackglass! We lit it with the brightest light we have and couldn't see a trace of color, even in the edges of the skirt. Surface etching adds to the character; this is very likely from the Hemingray dump. Many dump items are quite beat up, and this one is far better than many, with no chips and just a couple of dings. It is believed Hemingray may have been making dark-colored insulators to compete with porcelain units. A nice find for the Hemingray specialist! Estimate: $250 - $300 Open: $1 Price Realized: $231 |
