Lot 142: CD 263 HEMINGRAY // COLUMBIA Color: Aqua EIN: [020] Description: Classic "HEMINGRAY" stamped embossing. 1/4" skirt/base flake, a couple of 1/8" flakes on the ears. The front right ear and the rear have some speckling that almost makes it look like there's snow in the insulator. See lot 141 for a Columbia variant without the Hemingray embossing. See also lot 140 for a "Baby Columbia." They are all embossed with Samuel Oakman's May 12, 1891 patent date for "tie eyes," the feature that makes the Columbia style so unique!
