Lot 4
Price Realized: $3,740
Lot 4: CD 145.6 BOSTON BOTTLE WORKS Color: Light Blue Aqua Description: UPDATE: One of these with a chip on the inner skirt that removed "LIED FOR" embossing recently sold for nearly $5,000! On this piece the strongly embossed "BOSTON BOTTLE WORKS - PATENT APPLIED FOR" on the base of the inner skirt is in outstanding condition. In addition, the low pinhole creates an amazing solid glass hemispherical top. Clearly superior to the one that recently sold. Perhaps our estimate is too low, we'll let the bidders decide! The stunning dome glass immediately attracts your attention as does the nice bubble "floating" in the dome. 1/4" base flake, 1/8" wire ridge flake, otherwise about very near mint. Some typical factory annealing lines Nicknamed the "Knob Top Boston," the insulator has four segmented threads. It is one of the scarcest of the already-rare "BOSTON" insulators, predominantly used along railroads in New York. An amber streak and stretched bubble in the skirt add additional interest. These rarely come up for sale and this is a great example! And don't forget that dome glass! Estimate: $2,500 - $3,500 Open: $10 Price Realized: $3,740 |
