Lot 240
Price Realized: $66
Lot 240: Telephone Lineman "Action Figure" Description: This action figure measures 17" tall. It appears to be made out of wood, and all of the joints are fully articulated. Beautiful painting on the head. The attention to detail on the doll is amazing! He is wearing climbers' spikes with the appropriate leather straps. Caution: The points on the spikes are very sharp! The shoes are complete with laces. He even has an undershirt on. He has a lineman's harness and tool belt. Included in the tool belt are a wrench for two sizes of nuts, a wire splicing tool that handles four different gauges of wire. There is even a wooden handled hammer. The information we have is that there were two of these figures in a display at the A.T. & T. museum in Chicago, IL, dating back to the 1950's. When the museum was closed in the 1970's, this item and the miniature pole in lot 242 were retrieved. The whereabouts of the second doll is unknown. The figures were likely custom-made for this exhibit. Given its age, this doll is in excellent condition. There is just a little flaking of the brown paint on the hands which is designed to simulate leather gloves. One of the thin, fragile, leather straps on the lineman's spikes is broken off. It's hard to put an estimate on this very unique item that you probably won't see again! Estimate: $100 - $500 Open: $10 Price Realized: $66 |
