Lot 6: U-186 "Purkey Patent" Color: Mottled Dark Brown Porcelain Description: Excellent condition. Very weakly marked "PATENED AUG 11-14 OTHER PAT'S PEND'G" {Note spelling} The base is a nice mottled brown, and the glaze is much lighter around the groove area, helping to highlight the unique configuration of this style. This unusual "no tie" design was patented by Benjamin Purkey, and it was most likely made by the Pittsburg High Voltage Insulator Co. It appears that all known examples were used in the state of Washington. This is a three part glazeweld. There is increased demand for this unusual style and this is an exceptional example! Estimate: $300 - $400 Open: $10
Price Realized: $715
