Lot 194
Price Realized: $633
Lot 194: CD 317 CHAMBERS Color: Rich Aqua Description: 1 1/2" factory annealing fissure due to an impurity in the glass, some typical minor flaking on the sharp edge of the inside of the flange. For completeness, we will mention a few areas of very light haze that disappear when back lit. The damage-prone groove is virtually perfect and doesn't even show a trace of a wire rub! Nicknamed the "Candlestick", this insulator was used as part of the lightning rod system patented by Josephus C. Chambers on August 14, 1877. This example leans towards green but we'll be conservative with our description. Several steps up from the more pale examples and the condition is better than most, making this a great addition to your collection! Estimate: $700 - $900 Open: $10 Price Realized: $633 |
