Lot 48: CD 134 DIAMOND P  Color: Translucent Limey Green w/ Large Bubble  Description: 2 flakes on the wire ridge, otherwise about very near mint. It is likely that the "P in a diamond" logo refers to James Pennycuick, who designed a unique method for "forming screw threads on glass" while leaving the plunger in place during annealing. The date of his patent, August 11, 1885, is embossed on the rear. This piece has two great characteristics going for it. First, it is filled with fizzy bubbles, giving it a translucent appearance. Second, there's a 1 1/4" bubble nearly centered over the "Diamond P." An air pocket on top of the threads creates the illusion of a second bubble. How many "Diamond Ps" have you seen with a bubble this big? This example is worth a premium! (#0402)
