Lot 45
Price Realized: $462
Lot 45: CD 134 DIAMOND P Color: Translucent Limey Green Description: A shallow 1" area of chipping on the rear wire ridge, otherwise very near mint. It is likely that the "P in a diamond" logo refers to James Pennycuick, who designed a unique method for "forming screw threads on glass" while leaving the plunger in place during annealing. The date of his patent, August 11, 1885, is embossed on the rear. The presence of milk and fizz in the glass give this already rare insulator a translucent, light vaseline quality, heightening its desirability. Pennycuick collectors, and especially Diamond P specialists, take note! (#0102) Estimate: $700 - $900 Open: $50 Price Realized: $462 |
